The Running Horses in Mickleham acquired its distinctive equine name in 1828, when the Epsom Derby ended in a dead heat. Two nags – Colonel and Cadland – passed the post at the same moment, and their names are fondly remembered in the pub's two bars, which include a highwayman's hideaway and inglenook.
